# Update a lead property

`needleUpdateLeadProperty`

Change how a custom property is compared when filtering (type: string, number, boolean, date), or whether it shows as a column in the leads table. Stored values are not changed.

**Input**

- `key` (string, required): Property key
- `type` ("string" | "number" | "boolean" | "date", optional): How values are compared when filtering. Values are always stored as text; the type is guessed from the first value seen and can be changed.
- `showAsColumn` (boolean, optional): Show this property as a column in the leads table.
