Save Recipe Workflow

This workflow helps you save your favorite recipes from a web page directly into your designated collection. It takes a recipe URL along with some basic information and organizes the recipe with additional details like category, notes, and source domain.

Here is a quick overview of what the workflow does:

  1. Takes manual input for the recipe URL, category, and personal notes.
  2. Visits the given recipe URL to fetch the page content and extract the title to use as the recipe name.
  3. Merges your manual input data with the fetched web page content.
  4. Runs custom code to clean and extract useful details such as the finalized recipe name, source domain, and current date.
  5. Adds the recipe to a designated collection with appropriate labels including category and notes.
  6. Sends a confirmation message that the recipe has been saved successfully.

What You Need

  1. A Needle account to run this workflow.
  2. A collection created in Needle (for example, named "Recipe Sorter") where your recipes will be saved.

How The Flow Works

StepNode TypeDescription
1Manual TriggerYou start by inputting the recipe URL, a category, and any notes you want to remember.
2Browse Web PageThe workflow visits the provided URL and extracts the page title to use as the recipe name.
3MergeCombines your initial input data with the information fetched from the web page.
4CodeCleans up and parses the combined data. It handles missing information, extracts the source domain, and attaches the current date.
5Add to CollectionSaves the organized recipe into your Needle collection, applying metadata labels for easy sorting later.
6Code (Message)Returns a simple confirmation message letting you know your recipe has been added successfully.

Expected Output

At the end of this workflow, your chosen recipe is neatly saved in your Needle collection. It will include its name, source domain, category, personal notes, and the date you saved it. You will also receive a brief confirmation message ensuring the process worked perfectly.

Important Notes

  1. If the page title is not clear or missing, the workflow automatically attempts to infer the recipe name from the URL itself.
  2. Make sure the Collection ID in the Add to Collection node matches your actual Needle collection intended for recipes.
  3. You can easily customize the input fields or labels to better fit your personal recipe organizing style.
