The Daily Email Summary workflow helps you start your day informed by gathering all your emails received in the last 24 hours, summarizing them with key points, and sending you an easy-to-read email digest. This way, you quickly get up to speed on important messages without sifting through your inbox.
It accomplishes this through four main actions:
- Triggers automatically every day at 8 AM UTC to run the workflow.
- Retrieves up to 50 emails received in the previous day from your Gmail inbox.
- Uses an AI agent to create a concise summary covering total emails, highlights, action items, and informational messages.
- Emails you the generated summary formatted nicely for quick reading.
What you need
- A Needle account to set up and run the workflow.
- A Gmail account securely connected and authorized.
How the flow works
| Step | Action | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Scheduled trigger | Wakes up the workflow every day at exactly 8 AM UTC to start the process without any manual input. |
| 2 | Get emails from Gmail | Fetches all emails received within the last day (up to 50 messages) including their content, allowing the summarizer to analyze what arrived since the last run. |
| 3 | AI summarization | Feeds the collected emails to an AI model that generates a clear summary split into total count, key highlights that need attention, actionable responses, and newsletters. |
| 4 | Send summary email | Sends the AI-generated digest as an HTML-formatted email to your specified address so you can quickly read the overview in your inbox. |
Output
You receive a neatly formatted daily email summarizing all important points from your recent emails. It tells you how many emails came in, which ones are most relevant, what requires your action, and lists newsletters or other general info.
Notes
- The workflow fetches only up to 50 emails per day; if you receive a high volume, consider adjusting or splitting the query.
- Make sure your Gmail credentials remain valid to avoid interruptions.
- The AI summary quality depends on the content of the emails and the clarity of the prompt provided.
- The scheduled time zone defaults to UTC, so adjust it to fit your personal working hours.
